Patent Drafting and Prosecution Services

Creativity IP specializes in drafting, filing, and prosecuting patent applications for our clients.  We focus on small and medium-sized clients that demand the expertise of a large firm experience but recognize the efficiencies (and lower prices) of working with a boutique firm.

Registered Patent Attorney Manuel Cordovez performs all patent prosecution at Creativity IP.  Manuel has more than 12 years of intellectual property law experience, including 6 years at one of the largest law firms in the world.  Manuel has a B.S. in Biology and an M.S. in Chemical Engineering from Florida State University, and a J.D. from the George Washington University, where he graduated with honors.  Manuel has prepared, filed, and successfully prosecuted hundreds of domestic and international patent applications.

What type of Patent Do You need?

Utility Patents are the stereotypical type of patent.  They cover new and novel consumer products, machines, compositions, computer programs, processes, and methods.

Plant Patents cover new varieties of plants that can be reproduced asexually (i.e. grafts, cuttings, runners, etc.).

Design Patents cover how things look.  That is, the ornamental design of an article.

The fees associated with preparing and filing a patent application will necessarily vary with the complexity of the invention.  However, at Creativity IP, we do our best to provide you with an accurate estimate of your total potential costs in advance so that you can be confident in knowing how much you will spend.

Patent Prosecution and Issue Fees

After a patent application is filed with the USPTO, some additional work will be required before a patent issues.  In a best case scenario, all that will be needed is the payment of the issue fee.  However, more commonly, the USPTO will issue one or more Office Actions that will need to be overcome before a patent is granted.

Generally, we charge post-filing legal work by the hour.  However, we also offer certain specific post-filing legal work under a flat-fee basis.  In addition, we offer our clients a discount when a first Office Action Response is bundled with the preparation and filing of a patent application.

* The price of an Office Action Response depends on the complexity of the invention, the number of references to be overcome, and the number of previous Office Actions issued for that application.
